Reading at Home...

In Class 1 we expect children to read their school reading book at least 3 times a week. Children will have 2 books that are chnaged weekly. This will consist of a Little Wandle guided reading book which is read twice in school before it comes home and a free choice book which the children choose themselves. This matches the book band they are reading . Children can also read their own books as additional reading. All reading needs to be recorded in their reading records in order to recieve rewards and certificates.

Spellings

Spellings in Class 1 start in Autumn 2. These follow our Little Wandle phonics scheme and revise and consolidate Tricky words. These are high frequency words which do not follow spelling or phonetical patterns. You will find these in their spelling and phonics books. They are also on EdShed.

PE

Our PE days may change across the year however this is always communicated on both our half-termly newsletter and class facebook sites. Children are expected to bring their PE kits in every Monday and will be sent home by the class teacher at an appropiate time. If a child uses their PE kit for an after school sports club please bring this back the next day where possible. The school PE kit expectation is a plain white or red top and plain black bottoms such as shorts, tracksuit bottoms or leggings. Children also need a pair of outdoor trainers. In order for the children to be equipped for any weather please can both indoor and outdoor kits be in one bag at all times.
