Recently Year 5 visited Allerton Waste Recovery Park. They had a tour of the factory and learnt all there was to know about recycling.
Yesterday the Year 5 class visited Allerton Waste Recovery Park. They learnt about what to recycle and what not to re-cycle. They had a tour of the factory and saw a sphere with different sized holes for filtering cans to bits of food. The recycling then goes into a 13 metres underground pit to be burnt at a minimum temperature 850oC. They learnt about the energy that can be generated from burning just one recycled can of beans and in Pippa’s words the “waste food stunk!!”
Your children will now be able to do your recycling for you and put the bin out!!
